Funstation The Gate Newcastle NOW OPEN!
Let the games begin: Funstation is now open at The Gate Newcastle
Newcastle, we’ve arrived! You’ll find us at The Gate, with carnival classics, instant prize games, virtual reality and a couple of challenges that might bring out your competitive side.
Come in for a few games with the kids, settle a score with your mates or squeeze in some play before dinner. There’s plenty to try… including Goal Striker, making its Funstation debut exclusively in Newcastle.
What are you playing first?
Everyone has their approach to an arcade. Some head straight for their favourite game. Others do a full lap before committing. And there’s usually someone who insists they’re “just watching” before getting more involved than anyone else. At Funstation Newcastle, you can take on our carnival classics, try your luck on instant prize games or step into a virtual reality experience. Pick your first game, see how you get on and remember: if your mate beats you, you’re allowed to suggest best of three.
Quick feet at the ready for Pixel
Pixel is our interactive floor game… and standing still won’t get you very far. Consider the floor lava. You’ll need to think fast, watch your step and keep moving as the floor lights up with game patterns that test your speed, reactions and coordination.
Take it on solo or team up with family and friends. Whether you’re a gamer, the sporty one in your group or just fancy trying something different, it’s your chance to see how quickly your feet can follow your brain. Reckon you’ve got it? Step onto the floor and find out.
Newcastle gets the first go at Goal Striker
We couldn’t open in Newcastle without bringing a little football into the mix!
Goal Striker is brand new to Funstation and exclusive to our Newcastle venue, with two interactive football simulators waiting for you to take your shot. You’ll be kicking a real football, with an automatic ball launcher delivering each ball as you take on challenges that test your accuracy and reactions. Try Target Practice or give Xoccer, a football-inspired version of noughts and crosses, a go. With Goal Stiker, choosing where to aim matters just as much as getting your shot right. Bring the mate who’s always talking about their football skills. Bring the one who reckons they could have gone pro. Then see what happens when it’s their turn and compare scores, ask for a rematch or come back to beat your personal best. There’s always a reason for another go.
Got your eye on a prize?
On eligible arcade games, you can collect Prize Points to exchange for rewards at our Prize Station.
There’s everything from keyrings and toys to bigger prizes such as PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch consoles. You might find something you want to take home today, or spot a prize worth saving your points towards. Already planning what to play for? Browse our Online Catalogue and see what catches your eye. Prize availability may vary, so check out the Prize Station when you visit.
Your Funcard gets you started
New to Funstation? Pick up a Funcard in the venue, load it with tokens and tap to play eligible games. You can top it up when you need to and keep the same card for your next visit. If you’re unsure where to start, just ask our friendly team — they’ll help you get set up.
Make us part of your Newcastle plans
You’ll find us at The Gate, Newcastle’s premier entertainment complex for food, drinks and leisure, just a five-minute walk from St James’ Park. Got time before kick-off? Get a few games in before heading to the stadium. Going to a concert? Meet your mates here and get the evening started before the main event.
You don’t need a match ticket or gig booked to make a day of it, either. Drop in before a film, work up an appetite before dinner or see who comes out on top when a catch-up turns competitive. Funstation Newcastle is now open. Who are you bringing? Find our opening hours and plan your visit.
